What it is

Beez Needz is a first-party U.S. beehive-woodenware manufacturer and beekeeping-supply shop on a 40-acre farm in Sophia, North Carolina. Its official online shop (beezneedz.com) sells Beez Needz–built pine and cypress hive bodies, supers, nucs, complete hive kits, beginner kits, bottom boards and covers, queen-rearing gear, extractors and bottling equipment, feed, protective gear, and related supplies. Official About copy is signed by founder Keith Elkes and states that Beez Needz manufactures “the majority of our woodenware in-house using quality cypress and pine, creating products made by beekeepers, for beekeepers.” The same page dates manufacturing to 2010 (cypress woodenware built with a friend, Roy, out of a garage) and the Sophia farm retail/manufacturing site to 2014, when Keith and his wife Andrea built the business on her parents’ farm (Ed and Sylvia Willis). This listing is for the hive/woodenware maker and gear shop with an official catalog URL, not a honey-only gift shop and not a county club.

Who it’s for

Hobby and sideline beekeepers who want factory-direct pine or cypress Langstroth woodenware and complete hive kits ordered from beezneedz.com, and buyers near Sophia, NC who can pick up during printed store hours or rest on the farm porch. Kits print 8- and 10-frame options with beeswax or plastic/Pierco foundation choices. Not a membership club hall and not a university course.

Why it’s listed

This is a first-party Equipment operation. It prints a street address with phone and store hours, an About story naming the family manufacturing timeline, and an official Shopify catalog with on-page dollar prices and kit contents for deep hives, production kits, starter kits, and beginner kits. It is not a scraped directory card, not Amazon, and not an affiliate storefront.

Notes

• Category is Equipment. Beez Needz is a first-party beehive-woodenware manufacturer and gear shop with an official catalog URL and a printed Sophia, NC contact block. It is not a honey-only apiary, not a Local club, and not a Learning pathway, even though customer reviews and site copy mention classes and advice at the shop. It is distinct from the Equipment shops already listed (Dadant, Mann Lake, Betterbee, GloryBee, Foxhound, Acorn Pierco, Rossman, HillCo, Blue Sky Bee Supply, Beeline Woodenware). Some kit SKUs offer Pierco/plastic foundation as a buyer option; this listing is about the Beez Needz–built woodenware and kits, not Acorn Pierco.
• The deep-hive, beginner, production, and starter kit prices and contents, the Sophia address and hours, the 2010 / 2014 / Keith & Andrea / Willis farm timeline, and the cypress-and-pine manufacturing claim are transcribed from official beezneedz.com pages checked on 2026-09-29 and may change. Beeswax foundation notes on product pages say beeswax is sensitive to temperature extremes and ships at the buyer’s risk. No purchase was made from Beekeeping Plaza.
• First-party logo saved beside this listing as beez-needz.png (from the official beezneedz.com header asset Beez-Needz-Logo-1024x260.png on the Shopify CDN, unedited).
