What it is
The Certified Beekeepers Program (CBeeks) is a two-year beekeeping education and certification program run by the New Mexico Beekeepers Association (NMBKA) in cooperation with the City of Albuquerque and other cities. The official program page says classes are taught by expert New Mexico beekeepers with supervised hands-on lessons using top-bar and Langstroth hives, and that students who complete the two-year curriculum and 40 hours of community outreach earn a Beekeepers Certification. Classes are offered in Albuquerque at the City of Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center on Coors Blvd NW unless otherwise noted. This listing is for the education/certification program, not a local club meeting series or a supply store.

FAQ
Q: Where are classes held?
A: Per the program page checked 2026-10-27: only in Albuquerque at the City of Albuquerque’s Open Space Visitor Center on Coors Blvd NW, unless otherwise noted. Classes typically begin in late March.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: As printed 2026-10-27: NMBKA membership is included in the CBeeks fee of $350 per year. The Level 1 application page states a nonrefundable $350.00 fee for Year 1 (invoiced after selection; payment plan may be requested, completed by March 15). Year 2 has a separate $350.00 fee. Ordinary NMBKA yearly membership alone is listed at $30 on the Plans & Pricing page.
Q: Can I still apply for 2026?
A: No. The program page says 2026 classes are now full; new applicants are added to the 2027 waitlist. Applications are rolling; apply no later than March 1 for the best chance of a seat. The application form itself was not submitted.
Q: What is covered in Level 1 vs Level 2?
A: Level 1 topics listed include equipment, protective clothing, bee biology, seasonal hive management, honey and wax processing, swarm catching, diseases and pests, botany/ecology/pollination, record keeping and marketing, with guided hive inspections. Level 2 is described as more self-guided (details on the program page).
Q: Is this an official or affiliated listing?
A: Neither. Beekeeping Plaza is not affiliated with NMBKA. No application, payment or form was made. This is the site’s first New Mexico Learning listing (Paseo del Norte Beekeepers is already listed under Local clubs).
